Certified Dog Trainer

What We're Looking For:
-Certification: A professional certification in Dog Training is preferred. Candidates eligible to sit for certification boards within the next 6 months are also encouraged to apply.
-Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in dog training.
-Fear Free Commitment: Candidates must be Fear Free certified or willing to become certified. Our commitment to a fear-free approach is at the heart of everything we do.
-Force-Free Philosophy: A strong belief in and adherence to force-free training methods. We strictly prohibit the use of force, punishment, or intimidating methods.
-Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team that values compassion, respect, and continued learning.
-Availability: Mondays-Fridays between 10-2pm
Compensation:
-Direct deposit paid weekly.
-Pay rate is negotiable
-We pay you by the service (commission) + mileage reimbursement + cell phone stipend + 100% tips.
-Depending on your availability and experience, this is a great way to earn supplemental income
-You can make extra money if you are willing to provide pet sitting services (dogs and cats) and pick up extra hours, provide overnights, or work on weekends.

Job Description
-At least 3 years experience providing dog training experiences
-Comfortable walking both big and small dogs for a mile or more
-Be comfortable providing dog walking services in all New England weather (i.e., rain, wind, sleet or snow) for 15 minutes up to an hour at a time and up to 6 miles per day
-Be able to quickly and efficiently respond to all inquiries from our team
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills since you will be communicating directly with clients and the Pet Care Manager
-Must be extremely organized, dependable, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude
-Follow a schedule provided by the Pet Care Manager
-Give all pets your undivided attention and love during your assigned visit
-Provide pick up and drop off services to dogs from and to their homes for individual dog hikes
-Provide solo dog walks for private on-leash neighborhood walks
-Maintain control and ensure the safety of all of the animals under your watch
-Maintain security of our clients' homes during your assigned visit
-Pick up and properly dispose of all pet waste of the pets in your care
-Provide a daily note in our scheduling app with a photo following each visit to confirm services and to update the owner and Pawsitive Dawg of your visit
Other Requirements:
-Must love all dogs and cats
-Must have a smart phone with the ability to text as well as download and use our scheduling software
-Must have a car with valid driver's license and automobile insurance
-We assign visits within 5 miles of our staff's home so employees must live within 15 minutes of our service area (Waltham, Belmont, Watertown, Newton, Lexington, Lincoln, or Weston)
-4 relevant references (3 professional and 1 personal)
-Must commit to always being available for last minute walks (unless sick or previously requested off) during their agreed upon hours
-Occasional evening hours or weekends for client interviews may be necessary
-Clean criminal background and clean driving records (criminal/background check required)

Pet Sitter Responsibilities:
Experience: Bring at least 2 years of hands-on experience caring for animals (personal, volunteer, or professional experience). This role demands expertise in handling both large and small dogs, as well as proficient care for cats, including feeding, playing, and maintaining litter boxes and we provide extensive training.
Physical Ability: Capable of walking dogs for up to 6 miles per day and managing tasks that may require lifting up to 40-50 pounds, (handling a large bag of pet food, cat litter, or assisting a dog)
Weather Warrior: We have extreme weather policies in place to keep you and our furry friends safe but you must be resilient and prepared to work in all New England weather conditions, from rain and wind to sleet and snow, with driving and activities ranging from short 15-minute walks to hour-long treks covering up to 6 miles per day.
Pet Care Duties: Comfortably perform a variety of pet care responsibilities including feeding, waste management, and cleaning, as well as attending to more specific needs such as administering medication or handling unexpected messes like spit up or potty accidents.
Tech-Savvy: Proficient in using technology to use GPS and review pet care profiles in our scheduling app with detailed instructions on pet care routines, location of supplies, and strategies to enhance visit efficiency.
Scheduling & Supervision: Capable of managing your schedule independently and stepping in to adjust or cover for team members when needed. This includes organizing visits and overseeing the completion of each task as stipulated.
Communication: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for direct interactions with clients and the Management Team. Quick and effective response to inquiries from the team during your shift is required.
Organizational Skills: Exhibit exceptional organizational skills, reliability, self-motivation, and a consistently positive attitude. Following a structured schedule and maintaining detailed records of each visit are critical.
Animal Advocate: Provide undivided attention and affection to each pet during visits. This role includes conducting solo and group walks, as well as individual dog hikes, ensuring each pet receives the highest level of care.
Safety First: Ensure the safety and security of all animals and client homes during visits, maintaining a vigilant presence and taking all necessary precautions.
Clean and Green: Responsible for the meticulous disposal of all pet waste, ensuring a clean and environmentally friendly approach during each visit.
Daily Updates: After each visit, provide a comprehensive update through our scheduling app, including a daily note and a photo to confirm services rendered and inform both the pet owner and the Management team and your team members about the visit.
